Having the right people around you is invaluable
It is well known that having the right people around you is one of the best ways to help you achieve your personal and business goals.
Jim Rohn put it simply and powerfully when he said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
I have been reminded of this during the last few weeks as I have knocked around some business and personal goals with a number of my most trusted people who have provided me with the following:
- An ear to listen to my ideas in a non-judgemental manner
- Asking questions to help clarify the issues/ideas
- Providing positive support
- Suggesting additional ideas that may be of help
I like to think I am fairly smart, but I do know that the people I have chosen to surround myself with are smarter and have more experience in certain areas. They are also the type of people who like to help others, generous with their time, and happy to share their wisdom.
Life and business are hard enough and you don’t have to do it alone, especially during difficult times when you need to share your doubts, fears, and ambitions. Having friends and mentors to help you is one of your most invaluable resources.
So, who do you have around you that you can rely on help you achieve your life goals?
If you are struggling to answer this then I can tell you that you probably already know the people, but you just:
- Do not know them well enough yet
- You have not helped them enough yet
These invaluable relationships are a two-way thing, you need to give to receive, and relationships do take time and effort to build, but the amazing results once you have created them will pay dividends tenfold.
